MATCHADO Kyoto Gyokuro Goko (NEW) - Single Origin - Mellow Aroma & Deep Sweetness

Experience the rare elegance of Goko, a premium Gyokuro green tea from Uji, Kyoto. Cultivated for shaded teas, Goko is celebrated for its strong umami, silky mouthfeel, and refined aroma. With a naturally rich green colour and a smooth, lingering finish, it delivers a truly elevated tea experience.

Hand-selected by MATCHADO Founder Hiromi Matsunobu, this single-origin Gyokuro is grown in Wazuka, the heart of Uji tea cultivation. Renowned for its deep sweetness, mellow aroma, and concentrated umami, it is considered top grade, high quality, and one of Japan’s most famous teas — a superior Japanese green tea.

The 20-day shading process before harvest produces deep green leaves and a stronger concentration of flavour and nutrients, rich in theanine and chlorophyll, creating a vibrant, nourishing tea.

Origin & Heritage

Wazuka in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, is celebrated for centuries of artisanal tea cultivation and the finest Goko leaves. Designated one of Japan’s most beautiful villages, Wazuka’s dramatic sloped tea fields are breathtaking, and its tea legacy dates back over 800 years. As the largest producer in the Uji tea-growing region, Wazuka supplies around 40% of Uji tea, renowned for its high-quality green tea and matcha. The region embodies the heritage and skill of Japanese tea cultivation by small-scale independent producers.
